Mr. Calleja was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1995 and in the New York State Bar in 2005. He was the former legal counsel for the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and of the Legal Network for Truthful Election (LENTE). Mr. Calleja is an incumbent director and trustee of several companies such as the St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine, and The Shang Grand Tower Corporation.

 

Education /Academic Attainment:

Mr. Calleja finished his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Santo Tomas. He obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law and his Master of Laws degree from Duke University, U.S.A. He received a Certificate in International Law from the Hague Academy of International Law, Netherlands.

Mr. Calleja is currently a law professor at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. He also taught in several educational institutions such as the Far Eastern University Institute of Law, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila College of Law, Assumption College, Lyceum of the Philippines. As a law professor, he handled various subjects like Torts and Damages, Transportation Law, Conflicts of Law, Property Law, Environmental Law, Election Law, Constitutional Law, Law on Sales, Obligations &Contracts, Succession Law, Public International Law, and Legal Forms. Mr. Calleja is also a lecturer in Election Law, Civil Law and International Law for the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE). He has authored several books and journals on Torts and Damages, and Election Law.

 

Awards and Citations:

In 2000, Mr. Calleja was given the Outstanding Leadership Award by Rotary District 3800. In 2001, he was awarded the Golden Millennium Award as outstanding lawyer of the New Millennium. Mr. Calleja was also given the University Service Award for Dedicated Service for 10 year by the Ateneo de Manila University in 2016.

 

Cases Handled:

He handles civil, criminal, commercial and labor litigation. As a criminal defense lawyer, he has successfully bailed or acquitted the accused in many sensational cases in the Philippines. He is also a pioneer in the field of Family Law where he was the first in the country to be granted a Temporary Protection Order under the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004. He has successfully defended one of the biggest mining companies in the Philippines in a case involving one of the largest mining disasters in the history of the country. In another accident involving one more mining conglomerate, Mr. Calleja stood with the opposing side and was instrumental in the defense of the marginalized fisherfolk and the poor. He has assisted clients in settling multimillion peso estates both judicially and extrajudicially. In the area of Election Law, Mr. Calleja has distinguished himself as an authority from the early days of manual counting up to the recent automation of the polls, and has handled numerous elections cases.

Mr. Peralta was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1987. Mr. Peralta finished his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of the Philippines. He likewise obtained his Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of the Philippines.  He was an ASEAN Overseas Training Scholar having attended the Intellectual Property Rights-Management Training Program in Tokyo, Japan in February 2002, sponsored by the Japan Patent Office.

Mr. Peralta is currently a law professor and the Assistant Dean for External Affairs and Lasallian Mission at De La Salle University School of Law. As a law professor, he has taught Corporation Law, Credit Transactions, Intellectual Property, Land Titles and Deeds, Legal Writing, and Mergers and Acquisitions.  He was the author of the Philippine section of International Telecommunications Law, published by BNA in London, U.K.  He is a co-author of the Philippine section of Global Privacy and Security Law published by Aspend Publishers/Wolters Kluver.

 

Awards and Citations: 

Since 2004, Mr. Peralta has been consistently cited in the Asia Pacific Legal 500, Asia Law Practice and Who's Who Legal for his work in the Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions, Intellectual Property and Technology Media and Telecommunications Fields.  In January 7, 2014, he was awarded with the Ricardo J. Romulo Professorial Chair for Commercial Law. He was accorded an Honorary Membership by the Association of Fellows and Legal Scholars of the Center for International Studies based in Vienna, Austria in 2001.

 

Transactions Handled:

He handles intellectual property litigation and arbitration on a range of technologies. He has assisted in the structuring of settlement agreements for technology, intellectual property and privacy cases.  He has represented companies in negotiating and drafting software, hardware, internet and other information technology transactions.  He has negotiated and drafted outsourcing, external service provider agreements, web based services and online subscriber agreements, including business process outsourcing agreements. He has handled and incorporated many joint ventures between foreign and domestic corporations engaged in power generation, fast-food/restaurant services, wholesale retailing, manufacturing, information technology and transport vehicle production. He handled the acquisition by the leading consumer paper corporation of the local operations of its rival company and the due diligence in relation to the possible acquisition by the same company of another takeover target. He also handled the initial public offerings for the leading electrical distribution company, the leading broadcasting company and two real estate development companies as well as the international offering of the leading gold mining company.He has appeared in various cases involving intra-corporate disputes, insolvency, corporate rehabilitation, disputed tax assessments, unfair competition, trademark and patent infringement.  He was a private prosecutor in the Impeachment Case of former Pres. Estrada as well as in his Plunder Case before the Sandiganbayan.  He recently argued before the Supreme Court in a case involving the foreign ownership issue in Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company.

Ms. Mallari has written several dissertations throughout her academic years. For her Applied Economics Degree, she wrote a study on the economics of sexual behavior entitled, “Explaining the Link Between HIV Prevalence and Income Inequality in Selected ASEAN and African Countries from 1990-2009.” For her Legal Management Degree, she wrote a study on the then recently passed Technology Transfer Act of 2009 and its effect on intellectual property management and commercialization in the country.
